CAZ and All that Jazz: Combustion Analysis and Worst Case – Wx-Oriented*  – Approved for 12 BPI CEU’s/24 NC Engineer PDH’s

(*Our “Wx-Oriented” courses are geared toward weatherization professionals of varying experience levels but are also open to the public. This course does NOT conclude with testing)

Location: Boone, NC
Date:
10/28-10/30/13
Cost: $750

Weatherization standards state that a worst case combustion safety test shall be performed at the initial audit, the final inspection, and as need through the weatherization process. Did you know you should test at the end of every day that air sealing is performed? This class is designed to refresh combustion safety skills to make sure Wx professionals are leaving the jobsite in a safe working condition. Students will practice combustion gas analysis and worst case depressurization on many different combustion appliances so that they will be prepared for most anything they might come across in the field.

PLEASE NOTE: Our calendar is currently quite open because the grant funding that has been supporting many of our students for the past several years expired on 5/31/13. We would love to add trainings to our calendar–we are simply trying to gauge the demand before we do so. Please let us know if you are interested in any of the trainings discussed below or highlighted on our  Training Menu page. Please also let us know if you are interested in a custom training. We gladly teach a wide range of topics concerning building science, combustion safety, energy efficiency, weatherization, and renewable energy technologies. We hope to be working with you soon!

We are excited to announce our Weatherization-Oriented Training Series! All of the following trainings for which the titles are followed by “Wx-Oriented” are geared toward weatherization professionals of varying experience levels but are also open to the public.

Master the Blaster – Wx-Oriented (*This course does NOT conclude with testing) – Approved for 4 BPI CEU’s/8 NC Engineer PDH’s

Location: Boone, NC
Date:
To Be Determined / based on demand–please let us know if you are interested! Thank you!
Cost: $250

NCWx will soon require the use of duct testing to obtain inputs for the NEAT software program. This course prepares trainees in testing methods, practices and equipment necessary to meet these new requirements. Students will receive hands-on experience using both the Minneapolis Duct Blaster and Retrotec DU200 duct tester, in addition to troubleshooting problem leakage areas.

Under Pressure: Mastering Zonal Pressure Diagnostics – Wx-Oriented (*This course does NOT conclude with testing) – Approved for 4 BPI CEU’s/8 NC Engineer PDH’s

Location: Boone, NC
Date:
To Be Determined / based on demand–please let us know if you are interested! Thank you!
Cost: $250

ZPD’s can help us to understand how air is moving in a structure. With this training, students gain hands on experience using Retrotec and Minneapolis equipment to measure zonal readings and interpret their meanings. Different pressure tests to isolate envelope and duct leakage are also demonstrated.

HVAC Fundamentals – Wx-Oriented (*This course does NOT conclude with testing) – Approved for 8 BPI CEU’s/16 NC Engineer PDH’s

Location: Boone, NC
Date:
To Be Determined / based on demand–please let us know if you are interested! Thank you!
Cost: $500

HVAC systems and terminology can be confusing at the best of times. Come to our class to learn more about the fundamental elements that make HVAC systems work. Learn about system components, refrigeration cycle, load calculations, duct design, and airflow, as well as common issues, troubleshooting and more. Students will receive hands on training in the field with a variety of equipment.

Duct Diagnostics Training (*This course does NOT conclude with testing) – Approved for 4 BPI CEU’s/8 NC Engineer PDH’s
