Energy Audits

BPE has performed over 400 energy audits on commercial buildings as part of a utility program. Each building was analyzed and retrofitted using different contractors across North Carolina. BPE provided Quality Control for each project assuring that work was completed correctly.

Components of an energy audit can include any or all of the following:

  • Air infiltration – blower door test
  • Duct Leakage – duct testing
  • Gas leaks – combustible gas leak detection – (found in over 50% of buildings tested!)
  • Moisture Issues – a visual inspection – outside, inside – top to bottom
  • Infrared Diagnostics – thermal camera used to look for hidden problems
  • Combustion Safety – BPI combustion safety testing including worst case depressurization tests
  • Base Load Inventory – a serious look at the low hanging fruit available to save energy.
  • Retrofit strategies
  • Contractor Referrals
  • Contractor Test Outs
